僕は東日本大震災の被災地と東京の繁華街をつなぎたいと思った。それが僕らにとってのリアルな311の写真ではないかと思ったからだ。僕は東京に住んでいる。2014年の今になっても、東北の被災地に行くと、別世界のような光景に圧倒される。東京の街は人が行き交い一見、楽しげに暮らしている。震災のことや原発のことは忘れてしまったかのように。ほんとうは、人ごとではないはずなのに。僕らは見えない瓦礫上で享楽の生活を送っている。

My idea was to link the areas affected by the 3/11 earthquake and tsunami with the bustling streets of Tokyo. It seemed to me that this would offer a more realistic representation of the events and impact of that day.
I live in Tokyo; the scenery that greets me when I travel to the disaster-stricken areas is from another world and I struggle to comprehend, but taken at a glance it has the appearance of paradise for someone used to the intense bustle of the metropolis. The events of 3/11 might never have happened.
Our lives of pleasure stand on invisible rubble.
