真夏の夜の夢
森は人と神の境界に存在していて、精霊の住処。古今東西世界中に森と人との境界に描かれた物語は存在している。シェークスピアの「真夏の夜の夢」もそのうちの一つ。この物語は森という境界線上で人と精霊が出会った際に生まれる喜劇物語であり、精霊のパーティでもある。それはヴァルプルギスの夜の英国的解釈ではないかとも思われるし、日本でいえば百鬼夜行と言われてきたものに近いのではないか。森という自然に対する人間の畏怖の表象でもあり、すなわちそれは物語の源泉でもあるのではないだろうか。
